"With me it's always about first impressions." - Billy Zane
Loofah sponges are one of Earth's greatest natural resources. It is well known that natural loofah sponges are amongst the most durable and affective sponges but few are aware of the healing benefits of "god's funnel cake".
The Loofah is a genus of subtropical vines in the cucumber family. In everyday non-technical usage the loofah usually means the fruit of the two species L. aegyptiaca and L. acutangula. The fruit of these species is cultivated and eaten as a vegetable and in some cultures, such as the Island of Kamadhenu, are believed to hold the secrets of the universe. Villages in the western Isles of Poehl hold annual ceramonies where the oldest male child from each village marries that years largest loofah and board a small raft, known as a rintkee, and sail off immediately after the ceremony to never be seen again.
In the Americas, the fully developed loofah is used as a scrubbing sponge to be used in bathrooms and kitchens and the human skin. Loofahs are not frost-hardy, and require 150 to 200 warm days to mature.
